Dance, monkey. Dance faster. Dance better. Tired? Dance more.

“You should be grateful that you get to be creative for a living.”

It’s the classic line that denies the difficulty you face every day in a job where your creativity is constantly evaluated, but rarely valued. Somehow, you still show up and create… even if it’s just ideas that will never happen. Whether you’ve won a Cannes Grand Prix (or two in my case) or you’re just getting started, it’s normal to worry about what this is all adding up to, if the doubt will ever dissipate or whether or not the tap will eventually run dry.

Creative psychotherapy for creative professionals who want to feel more fulfilled, less stressed and more in tune with their personal creative practices.

You got into this work because you believe in your creativity in whatever form that comes to fruition. Yet, most times, your day to day couldn’t feel further from it.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in advertising, media and marketing at Weiden+Kennedy, Droga5, Noble People and a stealth startup accelerator as a creative and strategist. I know the unique demands, struggles and highs and lows of a job where you’re asked for on demand, award-winning creativity. I also know what it’s like to work on absolute dreck and still have to show up and try to find that elusive glimmer of inspiration.

It’s a unique field where you’re destined for burnout and sometimes shamed for letting it get that far. The demands are often unrealistic and somehow you’re still supposed to show up fresh, inspired and ready to create. You can turn up the temp in the oven to bake the cupcakes faster, but eventually the oven will break.

I’m here to help you break out of the cycles of burnout and overwhelm, the sense of meaninglessness that can creep in and the anxiety and paralysis of too many briefs, indecisive clients and conflicting direction.

I can help you feel more creatively-fulfilled, set boundaries and figure out who you want to be and how to get there in this wild, weird world.

 FAQs

  • I charge a sliding scale fee of $200-250. I ask clients to select a fee that works for them. This fee can be reassessed if life circumstances change.

  • First, we meet for an initial consultation. If it feels like we’re a good match, we’ll start meeting weekly either in-person or virtually. Ideally, this will happen at the same time to create a regular space that you can depend on. For a lot of people that knowledge alone can be deeply comforting.

Life happens so we’ll likely have to reschedule at some point. I’m happy to do this with 24 hours notice. Otherwise, you’ll be responsible for the full fee.

  • There’s no way to say definitively. Some clients see me for a few months and feel relieved and ready to move on. Some clients see it as an open-ended process that they will engage in as long as they feel like they’re benefiting and growing. We can talk more about expectations when we meet because I’ll have a better idea of your issues, history and goals.

  • I’m not in-network with any insurance companies. However, most of my clients get reimbursed through their out of network coverage (even if they don’t have out of network benefits… looking at you Aetna folks). I’m happy to help you navigate this process.

There’s a variety of reasons why I’m not in-network with any insurance carriers ranging from the restrictions they put on treatment approach, frequency and length to the fact that they do not let me set my own fees, which means I cannot accommodate marginalized clients who can’t afford a full fee. I’m also happy to talk more about this if you’re surprised, angry or curious.
