Reimagining yourself is a creative act.
Whether you came here because you’re tired of the way things are or are just curious about how they might be, I’d be honored to join you in the process of figuring out who you are, who you want to be and how to get there.
Why take a different approach?
It can feel impossible to break out of your well-worn, day-to-day thoughts, even when you’re sick of them. It’s easy to get stuck in that familiar swirl of racing thoughts, fears and worries and end up feeling overwhelmed and alone. In this state, how could you ever possibly imagine a different way?
My approach blends talk, music/art and mindfulness to help you break free of your every day. In this space, we can begin to look at what is good and right about you, envision what’s possible without your familiar anxiety, depression or past traumas and find ways to bring that vision to life.
In-person and remote therapy for adults, adolescents and couples
I offer individual and couples psychotherapy for adults and adolescents seeking relief from anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and major life changes. I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration for appropriate adult clients. In-person sessions are in Merrick or Brooklyn and remote sessions are offered for people throughout New York State.
I’d be honored to guide you on your journey
Hi. I’m Josh Millrod, LCAT, MT-BC.
I’m a therapist, musician / producer, sci-fi reader, worker-outer (cycling, running, strength-training, hiking) and dad. I see my job as therapist more like being a wilderness guide. Wilderness guides don’t just give you a map and hope for the best, they navigate both familiar trails and unexpected challenges with you.
Now, in professional jargon… I’m a trauma-informed, somatically-oriented licensed creative arts therapist (LCAT) and board-certified music therapist (MT-BC). I blend Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) with psychodynamic music therapy. I completed my master’s degree at NYU and did post-graduate training in AEDP, trauma-informed creative arts therapy, Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP).
Curious about what it might be like to work together?
Therapy is a relationship and the best way to see what it might be like to work together is to set up a free consultation. We’ll talk about my approach, get to know one another and see if we’re a match.
